Do you offer editing and / or story services on short screenplays as well?
Yes. The fee structure is less, but I will certainly tackle your short film script.
Do you offer editing and / or story services on television projects, novels or stage-plays?
At this time, I do not.
What types of scripts will you read / work on?
I'm open to all genres. While my forte is horror, good storytelling is good storytelling -- regardless of genre.
With what screenwriting software do you work?
At this time, I work in Final Draft only. You may also submit scripts in PDF form.
What type of payments do you accept?
At this time, I only accept payment via PayPal. However, you don't have to have a PayPal account. You may use their site as a guest, and pay with a credit card.
What is your turnaround time?
I aim for a 2-week turnaround (that's 2 weeks for the first read-through and 2 weeks for the second read-through), but this will change dependent on my workload. Before I am contracted, this updated information will be made available to you. Check out my schedule for additional information.
What are your phone call consulting hours?
Appointments must be set, but I am generally available between the hours of 11am - 5pm PST, Monday - Friday. If absolutely necessary, some exceptions can be made in advance. For my open availability, check out my complete schedule here.
If I live in Los Angeles, can we meet up, face-to-face to discuss notes and / or engage in some good, old-fashioned brainstorming?
I'm absolutely open to that. Of course, such meetings are dependent upon scheduling and location.
Does my screenplay (and any supporting documents) have to be in English?
Yes.
Do you require screen credit / IMDb credit when (not if -- we must always remain positive) my script is filmed and completed?
While not a requirement... Of course. I would love that. Any additional credits I can add to my own profile, can only benefit the business for future consulting gigs.
Who do you think you are?
Well, I don't claim to have all of the answers when it pertains to screenwriting. But I've gathered a lot of knowledge and tricks and shortcuts which have worked for me (they may not for everyone), and like I always said during my 7 years as a film critic and about my reviews, "It's just one person's opinion". So any guidance or notes or suggestions I offer to my clients, should be taken with a grain of salt -- as should any outside opinions (trusted friends or showbiz insiders alike) . Ultimately, this is your piece, so only you can make those all important final decisions before sending it out into the world or moving into production.
In your own writing, do you make use of a script editor / story consultant?
Heck, yes! When you're so deeply engaged in a world of your own creation, you can easily become blind to inconsistencies, plot problems and overall errors. A pair of eyes with no emotional connection to the product is invaluable in the writing process!
What is "klugula"?
It's a nickname I procured during my college days, and it has stuck with me these many years. I introduced several of my college chums to the 1979 cult classic Caligula... and with my last name being "Klug", well... it was a perfect match!
